A New City on the Coast - 3000 BC to 2490 BC

My Scout is roaming around Europe and Asia bumping into people - meanwhile Dido and I agree upon Friendship and she wastes no time asking me to join her in a war against Byzantium. I politely refuse the offer. I don't want to be considered a warmonger so early in the campaign.

We have finished researching Mining and begin with Calendar next in order to build Plantations.

We meet the Persians and the City-State of Riga. An interesting nation with three Luxury Resources which we don't have in West Africa.

The next table shows our rank in terms of how much Gold we possess. We are somewhere in the middle.

We do business with Venice and meet the French.

Our first Worker has arrived start building a Farm first - our Happiness Level is high so Growth is more desirable. We discover another City-State, Ragusa, also interesting.

Another new Social Policy and Collective Rule gives me a free Settler.

We decide to accept a Friendship Agreement with Germany....

....and allow Ethiopia and Arabia to open Embassies in my Capital - for a Price naturally :)

We become Friends with Siam and collect some Gold from Sweden....

I add a Caravan then a Settler to the Production Queue in Gao - as soon as my fifth Citizen arrives, in 4 turns, I will make the Settler first in the Queue - building Settlers stops all Population growth in a City.

In 2590 BC I found a new City, Rabat. It stops Dido from building one there and there are plenty of resources.

That peeves both Dido and Maria of Portugal and I do of course apologize. I really do not intend building cities so far North again. I intend to capture Carthage instead :)

The fifth Citizen arrives and I optimize my City to build the Settler as fast as possible.

We agree to Friendship with Venice....

....and start researching Archery after completing the Calendar Tech. We need to think about weapons Research.

Bismarck opens an Embassy in Gao....

....and after completing the Farm I embark on improving the Spices Hex. With 512 Gold and 10 more per turn I'll soon have enough to purchase a Shine for Rabat.

That's all for this post - until next time :)
