My Garrison in Rabat has the opportunity to test its guns against a Barbarian Galley - I also purchase a Shrine for Rabat in order to further promote a base for a Religion.
I meet Attila the Hun and I allow him to open an Embassy.

Archery has been successfully researched and I choose Trapping for my next Technology. The Ivory hexes West and South of Gao need this Tech. I can also build a Circus in Gao for extra Happiness. Note that I am blocking the Ethiopian Settler's attempt to reach W. Africa - I consider it my territory.
My Scout now reaches Samarkand and India - more Gold for an Embassy in Gao :)

2290 BC: I create my third City, Tombouctu, and start constructing a Monument. The Spices Plantation is finished so I build a Mine on the Gems hex SE of Gao.

I purchase the Gold hex for two reasons: for my next Citizen and to complete my protective barrier around West Africa.
My statistics are much better than they were at the beginning of the Millenium. My Military is still weak but I am not overly concerned about it. Empire building has priority at the moment.
Portugal and Byzantium open Embassies in Gao....
....and I meet two new Nations, Kathmandu and the Zulus.
Our Scout has discovered another Natural Wonder in SE Asia giving me another Happiness Point - also we meet Wu Zeitan of China.
My second Citizen has arrived in Tombouctu and as planned I allocate it to the Gold hex. I also add a Granary to the Production Queue. My Trapping Research is completed and I embark on The Wheel Technology next.
My Caravan has been build and order an Archer and a Settler next - do to expand :)
I open my first Trade Routr between Gao and Carthage - I receive 5 Gold and 2 Research Points and Carthage receives 1 Gold per turn.
Finally, Dido opens an Embassy in Gao.
That's all for this post. Things are looking pretty good especially my Economy is strong. I do need to think more about my defences - maybe in the next post :)
