Carthage becomes History - 880 BC to 840 BC

The enemy has recognized the threat from my Catapult and has neutralized it....damn! I respond with a naval bombardment then my Bowmen join in.

870 BC: A Catapult has arrived at Rabat and I quickly dispatch it towards the frontline. I order a Warrior next. Iron Working has been researched and I choose Optics for my next Technology - it will allow my soldiers to walk on water :)

They sunk my second Trireme and damaged a Venetian Trireme too. Their ships have also reduced Utique's defences so I have to be careful. I bombard the City only once this turn.
The White triangle in the blue circle at the right of the pic indicates that Rabat is now connected to my Capital Gao. The Worker can now build a Gold Mine for export revenues.
860 BC: I put my Catapult in repair mode then start to barrage Utique, hopefully for the last time. The Venetians have done a lot of damage to the Utique defences.

My Spearman now goes in for the kill and Utique falls :)

I annex it, rename it Benghasi and start building a Courthouse. That was Dido's last City so Carthage is destroyed. We are now firmly in control of North Africa but my no means secure - success breads envy then enemies....
Another captured Worker can now start building a Farm adjacent to Benghasi.
I can export a Citrus resource but not the Silver because both are imports....Venice gets the Citrus.

My statistics are looking much better - note that I am stronger than Egypt. I am first in 4 of the 8 criteria on the second chart :)

850 BC: My Spearman receives a well earned Promotion.
I renew my Trade Route with Lisbon - a very lucrative arrangement and starting 840 BC I use some of my war spoils to upgrade my Warrior in Gao to a Swordsman.

That ends this post and I leave you with a view of the Realm of the Songhi...eight cities :)
