My first Golden Age - 1700 BC to 1370 BC

Our Scout has now discovered the City-State of Seoul and we receive a little Gold....

....and I decide to build another Archer in Gao after a Worker has arrived.

The Zulus invite me to join their war against Ethiopia but I decline, for a simple reason: they may be friends of Egypt, or worse, Carthage and the last I need is a war on more than one front. I simply don't have enough troops to defend all my cities.

I start building a second Spices Plantation for Export purposes - more Gold :)

Mathematics has been researched which means I have arrived in the Classical Era - Sailing is the next Technology I intend researching.

1570 BC: A Portuguese Settler has arrived off the African coast and I don't want it to build a City in "my" territory!

The Granary has been completed in Tombouctu and I start a Spearman next - the City is undefended.

A new Social Policy is available and I choose Representation - it starts a Golden Age which means extrs Gold and Production Points as long as lasts - this time 20 turns.

I decide to add a Catapult to the Production Queue in Gao and can be pleased that Tombouctu is now connected to my Capital - that brings in more Gold, too :)

Fortunately the Portuguese Settler entered the Mediterranean so I purchase a Sea hex to block the way back into the Atlantic.

I start building two more Gold Mines which will greatly help my export economy.

We meet another City-State, Hanoi, and we become Friends with Ethiopia. Haile Selassie is more useful to me as a friend than an enemy. The Zulus are always agressive and Ethiopia lies between the Zulus and my Realm.

I've finished researching Sailing and I choose Construction next - amongst other things, it enables me to upgrade my Archers to Composite Bowmen - much more powerful. Colosseums are also great for more Happiness Points.

My Scout arrives at Malacca and I start building a Work Boat - near Georgetown there is an unimproved Luxury Resource - Whales :)

My Caravan needs a Trade Destination so I choose the Ethiopian City of Harar this time. Dido and I aren't on the best of Terms at the moment and if we go to war I would lose my Caravan if it still had a Trade Route to Carthage. Just being cautious....

I trade my second Spices Resource with Sweden for 7 Gold/turn and the Worker can now start improving the second Ivory hex :)

I add a Settler to the Gao Production Queue and purchase a Trireme in Rabat - my first Warship. I want to send it exploring....

In Rabat I also order a Cargo Ship. Sea Trade Routes tend to be more lucrative :)

Haile Selassie agrees to a Trade Deal for my surplus Gold resource and purchase more land between Rabat and the Carthaginians.

Oops, Dido is a little upset but I do apologize....

That's all for this post - I feel that I'm making progress...Ciao :)
