Memphis or Bust - 1235 AD to 1240 AD

Yes, I know that we are at war again. I didn't realize that Venice was so actively attacking Memphis. In fact, Ramesses didn't attack my troops, instead he bombarded 'unseen' Venetian troops.

Another City-State in South America is encountered....
....and a Pikeman nears another Ancient Ruin.
We also meet a new City-State in SE Asia.
I plot a course for a Worker to the Sinai so it can build a road from Alexandria to Memphis.
I then bombard Memphis with everything I have: 3 Trebuchets, a Composite Bowman and a Galleass.

A Pikeman has already landed capturing a Great Prophet in the process. North of Memphis a Mandekalu Cavalry has moved adjacent and finally a second Cavalry attacks the City and captures a second Great Prophet.
In South America my Lancer approaches another Ancient Ruin while my third Caravel enters the Straits of Malacca.

The Front at the end of my turn.
1240 AD: Research of Navigation has been completed - an important Technology for my Navy.
Also I have accumulated enough Faith Points for a Great Prophet.
Another City-State and another World Wonder - the latter rewards me me with another Happiness Point.

In his counter-attack Ramesses double-barraged the Cavalry that had assaulted Memphis last turn. It survived, barely. Now it is my turn: three Trebuchets pound Memphis.

My Pikeman assaults the City and it falls. Wow! Over 1000 Gold but also 11 Unhappiness Points.

We annex Memphis and rename it Jerusalem, start building a Courthouse and like Constantinople there will be six turns of unrest. Unlike Constantinople there are only a couple of buildings here.
I transfer a Mandekalu Cavalry to East Europe.
I purchase a Cargo Ship in Rabat with the Gold captured from Memphis.
I choose Machinery to research next - it enables faster movement along roads and I can upgrade a Composite Bowman to a Crossbowman.
I renew my Trade Route with Mecca.
The Eastern Mediterranean after the dust has settled. Impressive. Now I need to build a road from Alexandria to Brest-Litovsk. It will take a while.
It looks like I have a second Lancer :)
Wu Zeitan and Genghis Khan warn me but notice that they are not threatening or hostile.

Finally we meet another City-State in Central Asia.
That ends this very profitable post. Until next time :)
